An important decision has been taken by the Gujarat government to provide foodgrains at concessional rates to 10 lakh more families in the state under the Food Security Act. The government's decision will benefit as many as 50 lakh poor and common people. Now all the benefits that NFSA can get will also benefit this additional 10 lakh families. All Divyang, Ganga Swarupa sisters, beneficiaries of Vadh Pension Assistance Scheme will also be given the benefit of this food distribution.

BPL families who are not covered by the NFSA will now also benefit under the Food Security Act. The government's approach is to cover the distribution of foodgrains at concessional rates to rickshaw pullers living in cities and villages, chakdo, mini tempo drivers and even such daily earners. As well as NFSA benefits to construction workers registered with the Construction Workers Welfare Board will be distributed at a subsidized rate. The Chief Minister has given a clear instruction to complete the process of this scheme quickly and give the benefit of food distribution to the beneficiaries immediately.
