Approximately 400 years later, the opportunity to see Jupiter and Saturn from the wonderful and unique Mahayuti Telescope ......

  * On 21st December 2020, i.e. on the day of Mahayuti, both the planets Jupiter and Saturn will be very close to each other * only 0.1 degree away.

 * December 21, 2020 is a special day.  The longest night of the year and the shortest day ever! *

 🪐🌕🌚🌛
  So don't miss this ..........
 Dated 21/12/2020
 Hours: 6 to 8 p.m.

Today is Winter Solstice. I.e. the smallest day of the year. Last year the Winter Solstice came on December 22nd. But, this time it’s December 21st. Earlier in 2017, Winter Solstice also came on December 21.

Why do these days get bigger and smaller? Could there be a shorter day of the year than December 21st and 22nd? What does solstice mean and how many types are there? Does it also have an effect on the weather? Let's find out ...

Why do days get bigger and smaller?

This is because the earth is tilted. In fact, not just the earth. But each planet in the solar system is tilted at a different angle. Our earth also tilts 23.5 degrees on its axis. Due to the fact that the earth is tilted on its own axis, or rotating around its own axis, the time of the sun's rays falling in one place varies on different days of the year.

So today will be the smallest day of the year in the whole world?

  • It's not like that. Today is the smallest day of the year in the countries of the North Hemisphere. Today is the biggest day of the year in the South Hemisphere. This is why in countries like Australia, New Zealand and South Africa today is the biggest day of the year.
  • The North Hemisphere is tilted towards the sun for six months of the year. This brings direct sunlight into the hemisphere. Areas in the North Hemisphere, meanwhile, have a hot season. The remaining six months the area goes away from the sun and the day starts to get shorter.
  • Will the length and timing of the smallest day of the year be the same?

  • Different cities need the smallest day of the year today, but the length will vary. In Delhi, for example, the sun will rise at 7.10 am and set at 5.29 pm. I.e. the length of the whole day is 10 hours 19 minutes. In Bhopal, the sun will rise at 6.58 am and set at 5.40 pm. That is, the length of the whole day will be 10 hours 42 minutes.

  • Now, if we talk about one day ago i.e. December 20, the sun rose in Delhi at 7.09 am and set at 5.29 pm. That means the total length of the day was 10 minutes 20 minutes one minute more than today. Whereas, tomorrow i.e. 22nd December the sun will rise at 7.10 am and set at 5.30 pm. That means even tomorrow the length of the day will be one minute more than today.
